Obituary Online notes for Jim Curtis TICKLE
Jim Curtis Tickle, 90, passed away Sunday May 29 at Blumenthal’s Nursing and Rehab Center in Greensboro.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Maple Lawn Baptist Church at 5401 NC 65 in Reidsville with Rev. John Byerly, Rev. Rick Church and Rev. Daniel Church officiating. The burial will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens with Military Honors.
Mr. Tickle was a native of Rockingham County and was the son of the late, Nathan and Erna Bennet Tickle. He was simply called Curtis by those who knew and loved him. Curtis loved to sing, play guitar, watch Nascar, but he was most happy when casting his rod in a local pond to fish. Curtis was a WWII Veteran in US Army, Charter Member, Former Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Superintendant and Choir member of Maple Lawn Baptist Church in the Bethany Community. He served as the Assistant Fire Chief for 18 years at The Bethany Volunteer Fire Dept. Curtis was also featured on an episode of Discovery Health's Mystery Diagnosis to help raise awareness of his daughter Karen's rare disease Hermansky Pudlak Syndrome. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Harris Tickle Willie Ennie Herman Tickle and Elmer Tickle; his sister, Erna Inez Dimont; step grandchild, Mary Dawn Paschal.
Curtis is survived by his wife Margaret Moore Tickle; son, Alan Curtis Tickle; daughters, Susan Denise Gauldin, Joyce Tickle Church,and Karen Tickle Tillman; 5 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren;4 great grand children; 8 step grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 3 great-great step grandchildren.
