Melvin Eugene Lawrence, 86, passed away Wednesday, May 30, 2007 in Tulsa. He was born January 14, 1921 in Aline, OK, to Shellie and Gladys Mae (Hutchison) Lawrence. He married Faye Harper, November 23, 1950 in Nampa, ID. Melvin was a Machinist, respected as a perfect- ionist, who took pride in producing a high-quality finished product. He served his country from December 12, 1941 to September 17, 1945, during WWII, excelling as an airplane and engine mechanic in the Army Air Force 15th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron European Theatre. Following his service in WWII, he obtained his private pilot's license and enjoyed his flying experiences. Melvin was preceded in death by his loving wife, Faye and both his parents. Survivors include 2 daughters, Treva Hale of Tulsa and LaVila Lawrence of Denver, CO; 3 grandchildren, Wesley Hale, LaRae Wilson and Nicholas Hale; and 1 great-grandchild, Barrett Wilson. Service 10 a.m., Monday, June 4, 2007 at the Wesleyan Bible Church, with Interment to follow at 1 p.m. in the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery. Alderwoods-Heath Funeral Home, 446-6633.
