Obituary Online notes for “Jack” Alfred Leon COLTRANE
BROWN SUMMIT - Alfred Leon "Jack" Coltrane, 81, of 5996 Summit Ave, Brown Summit died Sunday, August 27,2006, at Wesley Long Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park with military honors and masonic rites.

Mr. Coltrane was born in Guilford County to the late Jess and Lena Coltrane. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II and graduated from NC State University in 1948. He was a member of Brown Summit United Methodist Church and retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation after 43 years of service. He was a charter member of the NE Civitan Club, a lifetime member of the SEANC, a member of the Monroeton VFW and a fifty year member of the Stokesdale Masonic Lodge # 428 AF&AM.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Addie Joyner and husband, Marvin, Maxine Greene and husband, David and Nancy Cross and husband, Spencer.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Billie H. Coltrane of the home; sons, Barry Coltrane and wife, Donna, Bobby Coltrane and wife, Diane; grandchildren, Steven Coltrane, Zac Coltrane, Dustin Coltrane, Austin Coltrane, Lauren Coltrane; brother, Donald Coltrane and wife, Janelle; sisters-in-law, Theda Garringer, Sybil Shreve, Rachel Troxler; aunt, Mary Jane Newton; uncle, Charlie Durham.

The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and other times at the residence.
