CANTON PRESTON
BURLINGTON - Mr. Canton Coolidge Preston Sr., 90, of 2103 Combs Street, passed away at 6:35 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2015, at the Hospice Home of Burlington after a brief illness.
Born in Forsyth County, N.C., he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Graham and retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby Modlin Preston, of the home; sons, Ronnie Preston and wife Linda of Thomasville, Junior Preston and fiancйe Robin Morrow of Haw River; daughter, Betty Copeland and husband Don of Snow Camp; daughter-in-law, Frances Mann of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter E. and Grace Hammack Preston; son, Willard Mann; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the McClure Funeral and Cremation Service in Graham on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, from 12:30 until 2 p.m. with a funeral service being conducted in the McClure Chapel at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Mark Wilson.
Burial will follow in the Graham Memorial Park. At other times the family will receive friends at the home of Betty and Don Copeland, 4005 Bass Mountain Road, Snow Camp, N.C.
