Roy Staley Kernodle
   ELON — Roy Staley Kernodle, 87, of 3540 North N.C. 87, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2012 at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

   A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of 60 years to Eunice Saunders Kernodle and son of the late Roy Watson and Sallie Jones Kernodle.

   He was a longtime member of Bethlehem Christian Church and served on the cemetery committee for over 50 years. Staley retired from Container Corp. of America in Greensboro and enjoyed gardening following his retirement.

   Survivors include his wife, Eunice Saunders Kernodle of the home; daughter, Nancy Emogene Kernodle of Elon; son, Eric Watson Kernodle of Elon; sisters, Laura Jane K. McPherson of Elon and Nancy K. Sain of Burlington; brothers William “Bill” Kernodle of Salisbury and Wayne Kernodle of Elon; and a host of nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2012 at Bethlehem Christian

   Church by the Rev. Dave Gilbert, pastor. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Church Cemetery. Mr. Kernodle will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.

   The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home.

   Memorials may be made to the Bethlehem Christian Church Cemetery Fund, 3625 Altamahaw Church Street, Elon, NC 27244.
