   ELON — Lena Saunders Page, 94, of 1884 Pagetown Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010 at her home.

   The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 at Gilliam Primitive Baptist Church with Elder David Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

   Mrs. Page was born in Caswell County and was the daughter of the late George Lee and Minnie Gwyn Saunders. She was a homemaker and attended the Gilliam Primitive Baptist Church. She was a member of the Cherry Grove Senior Citizens Club. She loved her family and especially enjoyed the grandchildren. Even though arthritis plagued her over the last few years, she never complained. Mrs. Page was the picture of strength and courage. She loved her flowers and people always noticed the beautiful display around her home.

   Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Loften Page and her brother, Scott Saunders.

   Mrs. Page is survived by her sons, Wilbert Larry Page, Cecil Lee Page and his wife Mitzy, all of Elon; her daughter, Barbara Page Mize and her husband Larry of Graham; her grandchildren, Lorrie Varner and her husband Chet, Teresa Page, Tanya Chu and her husband Allen, Larry Page and his wife Michele, Chris Mize and his wife Stephanie and Beth Terry and her husband J.D.; 12 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Violet Paschal of Burlington and Eunice Kernodle and husband Staley of Elon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

   The family will receive friends on Thursday, Oct. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home and at other times at her residence.

   Memorial contributions may be made to Gilliam Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o William Gilliam, 3905 N.C. 87 North, Elon, N.C. 27244.
