Mrs. Frances Gwyn Simmons
ELON — Mrs. Frances Gwynn Simmons , age 83, of 1821 N.C. 87 North, Elon, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
A native of Caswell County, she was wife of the late Raleigh Doake Simmons , and daughter of the late Jesse James and Myrtle Brintle Gwynn . She was a member of Gilliam’s Primitive Baptist Church, and a former member of the cafeteria staff at Western Alamance High School.
Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Gray Cole and husband, Johnny, of Burlington; son, Jim Simmons and wife, Joyce, of Elon; four grandchildren, Danny Simmons and wife, Michele, David Simmons and wife, Lisa, Tommy Cole and wife, Crystal, and Mike Cole and wife, Melissa; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Naomi Simmons of Elon and Mrs. Vera Madden of Graham; and a brother, Marion Gwynn of Elon.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Arnold Gwynn , Donald Gwynn , and Junior Gwynn .
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2006, at Gilliam’s Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Ray King. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Simmons will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory until being taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the residence.
The family wishes to express their appreciation for the kindness given to our mother from the staff of 2nd floor and critical care unit of ARMC and to Carol Jeffries for home care.
