OBITUARIES Mr. Jerry Brent Shepherd
    GIBSONVILLE — Jerry Brent Shepherd, 73, of 904 Springwood Ave., Gibsonville, died Sunday, March 21, 2004 at Beacon Place in Greensboro.
    A native of Guilford County, he was born October 2, 1930 to the late Howard Huey and Ruth Matkins Shepherd. He was the husband of Margaret Flynn Shepherd, who survives. He was retired from Engineered Plastics after 37 years of service.
    He was a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church, where he served on the Finance Committee, Board of Trustees and Administrative Board. He was a member of the Gibsonville Rotary Club, Gibsonville High School Advisory Committee, president of the Athletic Booster Club and president of the Gibsonville District School Committee. He was also a former Little League baseball coach and a former Cub Scout leader.
    He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served on the USS Valley Forge during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Shepherd was a member of the W.D. Hammer VFW Post 2792 of Gibsonville. His son, Jerry Brent Shepherd, Jr., his brother, John Roland Shepherd, Sr., and his parents preceded him in death.
    Survivors in addition to his wife, of the home, are two sons, Brent Shepherd and Mark Shepherd, both of the home; and a brother, Howard H. Shepherd of Greensboro.
    The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at Gibsonville United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. David Greene and the Rev. Jim Bowen.
    The family will receive friends at the church from 6 until 8 on today and other times at the residence. Memorials may be made to Gibsonville United Methodist Church, 405 Church St., Gibsonville, N.C. 27249, or Hospice at Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave., Greensboro, N.C. 27405.
