Nancy Walker Shepherd, 89, of Gibsonville, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at the AuthoraCare Hospice Home in Burlington.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late John Roland Shepherd and the daughter of the late Maurice Levi Walker and the late Louise Hinton Walker. Nancy was a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church where she enjoyed fellowship with her church family and serving in different areas of the church. She retired from the Guilford County Tax Department and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
She is survived by her sons, Jay Shepherd and Jeff Shepherd (Hope); grandchildren, Laura Takla (Andy) and Jeff Shepherd, II (Amanda) and Chantelle Shepherd; great-grandchildren, Abigail Takla, Alivia Takla, Amelia Takla, Alaina Takla, Jeremy Hile and Eli Shepherd; and her sister, Betty Lou Matherly.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John "Johnny" Roland Shepherd, Jr.; sister, Becky Roberts; brother, Maurice Levi Walker, Jr.; and her step-sister, Bennie O’Kelley.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 16, 2026 at Gibsonville United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am prior to the funeral service.
