Obituary Online notes for Cleland Ross STAINBACK
Cleland “Ross” Stainback, 91, of Burlington died at his residence on Tuesday, April 25, 2017.

A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of Ramona McKinney Stainback, who survives and the son of Walter Siddle Stainback and Mary Elizabeth Aldridge Stainback, both deceased. Mr. Stainback was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He was a retired supervisor at Collins and Aikman. He loved gardening, especially growing tomatoes and taking care of his yard. Ross was a Tar Heel basketball fan and New York Yankees fan. He attended Kerr’s Chapel Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Stainback Firth (Bill) of Burlington; daughter-in-law, Cathy Johnson (Chris) of Elon; six grandchildren, Tim Cozart (Jamie), Jennifer Kenyon (Cliff), Angie Wilson (Steve), Alan Michael Stainback (Laura), Abbie Stainback and Katie Stainback; two step-grandchildren, Karen Simpson (Shawn) and Michael Firth (Christine); three great-grandchildren, Presley and Avery Cozart and Vivian Kenyon; two step-great-granddaughters, Jordan and Hunter Simpson; and two sisters, Gladys Apple and Hilda Bryant (Marshall). He was preceded in death by two sons, Ross Michael Stainback and Cleland Eric Stainback and three brothers.

The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence of the daughter, Rhonda Firth, 438 McCray Road, Burlington, NC.

The funeral service will be conducted at Kerr’s Chapel Baptist Church on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Norman Harris. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
