May 27, 1932 - February 28, 2022
Mary Alice Rice Griggs, 89, of 226 N. Oakland Ave., went home to be with The Lord, Monday, February 28, 2022, at the Brian Center Eden.
A celebration of her life will be held 3:00 PM, Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Lee Eggers officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mary Alice was born in Caswell County to the late Loyd and Luella Begley Rice. She worked at Dan River Mills for over 10 years. She was a long time and faithful member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church. Mary Alice always made her house a home with warmth and kindness towards her family and friends. She volunteered at the CIVIC Center in Yanceyville for many years. Mary Alice was a loving and supportive mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son David Lee Griggs; brother Herbert Rice; and sister Virginia Rice Geller.
Mary Alice is survived by her children Phyllis Griggs Shaffer and husband Roger, Steve Griggs and wife Debra, and Arch Griggs and wife Vanessia; 6 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren; sister Ellen Rice Shaw; and a large extended family.
