Daughter of James Robert Cobb, Sr. & Katie Lee Sockwell. Wife of John Delbert Phillips.
Mrs. Mary Frances Cobb Phillips, 84 of McLeansville, NC passed away on Monday, July 2, 2012 at Ashton Place Health & Rehab.
A Funeral service will be held at10:00 A.M. on Friday July 6, 2012 at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in McLeansville. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Phillips was born in Guilford County on July 29, 1927 to the late Mr& Mrs. James Robert SR & Katie Sockwell Cobb. She was a graduate of McLeansville High School and was a past President of the former McLeansville Elementary School, and a former Band Booster for Eastern High School. She was retired employee of Burlington Industries and was a member of the McLeansville Homemakers and the Single Squares Square Dance Club. Mrs. Phillips was also a longtime member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the churches XYZ Senior's Club and the Spiritual Pathway Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her children, Teresa Gerringer of Matthews, NC, James Phillips and his wife Tammy of McLeansville and David Phillips and his wife Kimberly of Julian. Sisters, Virginia Kirkman , Marie O'Shields , Thelma Crutchfield and her husband Lawrence all of McLeansville, Gladys Clapp and her husband John of Greensboro and Rita Rodabaugh and her husband Karl of Chocowinity, NC and a brother Robert Cobb and his wife Elizabeth of McLeansville. Grandchildren, Sean & Eric Gerringer, Bradley & Brandon Nelson, David, Derek & Katie Phillips, Richard May and Brandy Reed. Great Grandchildren, Jordyn, Joni, Colton & Cadence Gerringer & Kinley Reed, a special friend Sam Case and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband John Delbert Phillips, a sister Catherine Ann Cobb, brother, Stanley Cobb and a grandson, James "Jamie" Phillips JR.
The Family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday at Forbis & Dick North Elm Street Funeral Home, other times at the home of her sister, Marie O'Shields of 6048 McLeansville Road. The Family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Greensboro and Ashton Place Health & Rehab.
