Owen Leo Underwood
GIBSONVILLE — Owen Leo Underwood, 86, of 252 Brown’s Chapel Road in Gibsonville, N.C. died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011 at the Hospice Home in Burlington.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011 at Camp Springs United Methodist Church and burial will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens, in Reidsville, with Military Rites by the Rockingham County Veteran’s Honor Guard.
A native of Caswell County, he was a son of the late Charlie Boyd and Grace Gwynn Underwood and he had lived in the Camp Springs community most of his life. He was the owner and operator of Underwood’s Barber Shop until his retirement. Mr. Underwood was preceded in death by a brother Billy Underwood and his son-in-law Jerry Hord.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Talley Underwood of the home; son, Douglas Leo Underwood and wife Gina of Reidsville; daughter, Pamela U. Hord of Gibsonville; sisters, Edith U. Combs and husband R. T. of Gibsonville and Bernice U. Matkins and husband Joseph of Elon; grandchildren, Phillip Brent Hord, Annie H. Smith and husband Ryan, Chad Underwood and Jay Underwood; great-grandchildren, Hunter Hord, Mayson Hord and Madison Hord.
The family will see friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 at Citty Funeral Home and at other times at the residence.
