Freida Matkins Rickman
BURLINGTON — Freida Matkins Rickman, of 30 Driftwood Court, Gibsonville, N.C., made her crossing into eternity on May 2, 2010 surrounded by her family and friends and now rests in the comfort and loving arms of her Saviour Jesus Christ.
A beloved wife, mother, daughter and friend to all, Freida is survived by her husband Joe; son, David of the home; daughter, Kelley Taylor and husband Ben. She is also survived by her loving parents Joseph F. and Bernice U. Matkins of Elon; loving sister Teresa Frazier and husband Chris and nephew Bryan; mother in-law Alice Rickman of Twin Lakes Community and Joseph B. Rickman (deceased); sister-in-law Susan Carneal and husband Billy of Tucson, Ariz.; sister-in law Trish Sawyer and husband Paul, nieces Stephanie and Katie, nephews Mitchell and Matthew of Providence, N.C.; sister-inlaw Michelle Rickman Komatz (deceased); sister-in-law Martha Brister and husband Howard of Clovis, N.M.; lifelong friends Kenny and Linda McDonald of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and loving friend Carol Maddox.
Freida was a loving and faithful servant of her Lord and Saviour and was a member of New Life at Hocutt Church, Burlington, N.C. Her sweet spirit of servant-hood and loving kindness, with a song always whispering in her heart, brought love to all those she touched. She was a wife of noble character who adored her Saviour, husband and family, forever giving and serving others. Always smiling, seeking to serve others and walking with Him, she was a visitor from heaven who heard the words from Jesus, “Well done, my good and faithful servant, come and rest.”
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Brookwood Baptist Church, 1606 West Davis Street, Burlington, N.C., with visitation from 9 to10:45 a.m. with services at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Mark Stewart, the Rev. David Gordon and Dr. J. L.Williams. A graveside service will be held immediately following at Shiloh Methodist Church, Gibsonville, N.C., where Freida was baptized, raised by a loving community of believers and married.
