Mrs. Thelma Smith May passed away peacefully at her home October 10, 2010, surrounded by those who loved her.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Friedens Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Thelma was born October 11, 1926, to the late Berry C. Smith, Sr. and Roxie Michael Smith. Thelma was employed by Blue Bell Textiles and later Dixie Bell. She spent the majority of her life as a homemaker and working on the family farm. She loved farming and she loved her family. She was quick to do what she could for others in need, always putting herself last. She also enjoyed attending church and was faithful when her health allowed it.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Berry C. Smith, Jr., Percy Smith and Lester Smith and her sisters, Louise Smith (infant), Effie Smith Little and Lillie Smith Little.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin C. May Sr.,; children, Marvin "Sonny" C. May, Jr. (Bernie), W.C. May (Helen), Edward C. May (Billie), Jean Brame (Cliff), Frank May and Coy May (Debbie) all of McLeansville and sister, Annabell Smith Cash. Thelma had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell Counties. They were a blessing for the brief time they were able to care for Thelma.
"Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates." Proverbs 31:31.
