Obituary Online notes for Sam Dudley CAMPBELL
Sam Dudley Campbell, Sr., age 93, of the Wheel Community of Bedford County, died Sunday morning, May 20, 2012 in Shelbyville, TN. He was the son of the late John and Lela Harber Campbell. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn Cook Campbell, who died in 1961, a sister and a brother.

A graduate of Marshall County High School, Mr. Campbell was a retired farmer and trucker. He also was a country dealer for the Virginia-Carolina and Armour fertilizer companies.

Mr. Campbell was a former member of the board of directors of Bedford County General Hospital, served as an election official at the Wheel precinct for many years and as a trustee of the Wheel Cemetery.

A member of Shelbyville First United Methodist Church, he served as Sunday School Superintendent and as a member of the administrative board.

Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mazle Duggin Campbell, Wheel; two sons, John (Sarah) Campbell of Lewisburg, and Sam (Regina) Campbell, Jr. of Wheel; a granddaughter, Mary Evelyn Campbell; and a grandson, Sam Riley Campbell.

Visitation with the family will be Monday, May 21, 2012 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Doak-Howell Funeral Home, Shelbyville, TN.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Shelbyville First United Methodist Church with Rev. Frank Smith and Dr. Lloyd Doyle officiating.

Family members will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services on Tuesday. Burial to follow in the Wheel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shelbyville First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 184, Shelbyville, TN 37160 or to Wheel Cemetery, c/o Patsy Cook, 129 Haskins Chapel Road, Lewisburg, TN 37091.
