Iris L. Whitesell, age 89, of Huntington, passed away peacefully Monday, November 18, 2019, at 11:04 PM, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed travelling, camping, and reading.
Iris was born August 5, 1930, in Huntington County, a daughter of Samuel and Sarah (Miller) Berry. On October 22, 1948 she married her beloved husband Vaughn L. Whitesell in Huntington. He passed away March 4, 2000. She is survived by 2 daughters Barbara Whitesell and Mary Whitesell both of Huntington, son-in-law Art Covey, 5 grandchildren Yvette (Scott) Bowers, Yvonne Martin, Rhonda Covey-Valenzuela, Jasmine Whitesell, Chase Shepard, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, a sister Martha Hartwig of Huntington, a brother Charles (Donna) Berry of Huntington and many nieces & nephews. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter Waneta Covey, a grandson Vaughn Whitesell, 4 brothers James, Gerald, Lloyd, and Harold Berry, and 6 sisters Florence Harris, Lucille Green, Lenorah Slagel, Emma Taylor, Elizabeth Berry, Phyllis Crago.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 22, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at Deal-Rice Funeral Home- Huntington Chapel, preceding the 12:00 noon funeral service at the funeral home.
