Obituary Online notes for Rev Floyd Marvin WHITESELL “WHITESEL”
Floyd Marvin Whitesel, 92, died of natural causes, on October 14, 2020, at the home of his eldest daughter in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
He was born August 3,1928, in Anderson, Indiana the son of Trecil Sheldo Whitesel and Cora Wiletta (Trick) Whitesel.
Floyd graduated from Bowling Green High School in Kentucky. Following high school, Floyd attended Gardner Bible College in Camrose, Alberta, Canada, for 4 years where he graduated in Pastoral Ministries.
He married Marjorie Alice Gardner, daughter of the college president, in Camrose, Alberta, Canada. They were married for 70 years.
Before entering the ministry, Floyd worked for the Fuller Brush Company.
He served as a pastor in the Church of God (Anderson, IN) as Senior Pastor and Interim Pastor in congregations across the United States for 60 years. Floyd pastored at Sloan’s Lake Community Church for Gordon Garrett’s sabbatical. While pastoring, he also served as Study Hall Supervisor at Shelby High School, Ohio, for approximately 13 years. Upon retirement, he owned and operated a print shop in Indiana. He attended Sloan’s Lake Community Church in his later retirement years.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his 2 sisters: Marcile Beal and Deloris Scarbrough.
Surviving Floyd are: his wife, Marjorie (Gardner) Whitesel and his 3 children.
Daughter, Jacquilyn L. (husband Robert) Monclova with their 2 children: Rebecca and Nicolas and granddaughter, Harlow, all of New Mexico.
Daughter, Michelle (husband Dale) Seelbach, with their 2 children:
Eric (wife Katie) and Marc (wife Heather), and
4 grandchildren: Simone, Avery, Felicity, and Rhys, all of Colorado. Son,
Thomas (wife Denise) Whitesel of Michigan, and their 2 children: Matthew Whitesel and Erin Perkins (husband Kenneth), and
3 grandchildren: Thomas, Kara, and Madelyn, all of Indiana.
Floyd is survived by 2 brothers: Doyle Whitesel of Kansas and Verle Whitesel of Florida.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Floyd was cremated in New Mexico. A memorial service time and place will be as determined by family. 470, Rev Floyd Marvin Whitesel
