February 3, 1943 ~ May 8, 2024 (age 81)
Mrs. Angie Brackett Ward, 81, of Burlington passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at 8:41 pm.
A native of Burlington, NC, she was the wife of the late John W. Ward, Jr., and the daughter of Jewell Rae Jones Brackett and Lewis A. Brackett, both deceased. Mrs. Ward retired from Laboratory Corporation of America after 17 years of service. She was of the Methodist faith and a lifelong member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed playing handbells and singing in the church choir. Mrs. Ward was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her faith and her family are what brought her the greatest joy in life.
Mrs. Ward is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Ward (Billy) of Burlington; two sisters Sherron Land of High Point and Gail Smith of Bridgeton; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Kernodle-Stone (Jeroen), Neil Kernodle (Sara), Amy Kernodle (Alex), and Cindy Hermann; seven great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; numerous loving nieces and nephews and longtime friend, Scot Ostrander. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Ann Scarborough and grandson, Bobby Hermann.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at Rich and Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at Rich and Thompson, conducted by Rev. Mike Mitchener.
The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to all of Mrs. Ward’s caregivers through AuthoraCare Hospice for taking such good care of her.
