Obituary Online notes for Mary VAUGHN
Mrs. Mary Vaughn Apple, 76, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Sumner Baptist Church with the Rev. Vernon Williams and the Rev. Fred Metcalf officiating. Interment will be in Guilford Memorial Park.
Mrs. Apple was born in Guilford County to Mr. and Mrs. John Robert and Blanche Marley Vaughn. She was a member of Sumner Baptist Church for 12 years, where she was active in Bussin' Buddies and served in many positions including substitute Sunday school teacher and meal preparation for many church functions. Formerly, Mrs. Apple was a member of Community Baptist Church. Since 1964, she has served in the Eastern Star Guilford Chapter #141.
She was a sweet and loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, George Dwight Apple; daughter and son-in-law Glenda Apple Gunn and husband Burnie of Hollywood, Fla.; grandchildren, Mary Catherine Danieley of Greensboro and Timothy Dwight Blair of Wilmington; sister Mrs. Betty Vaughn Kirkman of Pleasant Garden and beloved dog, Prissy. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Edgar Duke Vaughn, James Robert Vaughn and Robert (Bob) Lee Vaughn.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel.
