Mrs. Lillian S. Kernodle
ELON COLLEGE — Mrs. Lillian Somers Kernodle, 90, formerly of 1470 N.C. 87 North, died at 3 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 1999, at Alamance Health Care Center after one year of failing health.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Long Kernodle, who died in 1985, and the daughter of Mr. Samuel Jacob Edward Somers and Mrs. Emma Ross Somers, both deceased. She was retired from May Hosiery Mill and was a lifetime member of Bethlehem Christian Church and the Ever Ready Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Hazel) Anderson of Elon College and Mrs. Bob (Linda Carol) Hughes of Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Somers Kerns of Beulaville and Mrs. Beatrice Somers Tew of Tallahassee, Fla.; a brother, Mr. J. Ralph Somers of Elon College; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. James Sammy Kernodle; two sisters, Ms. Ollie Somers Matkins and Ms. Myrtle Somers Wagoner; and two brothers, Mr. Frank Somers and Mr. Edward Somers.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Christian Church by the Rev. Dave Gilbert, pastor. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.
