Hazel Kernodle Anderson


BURLINGTON – Hazel Kernodle Anderson, age 87, of Hwy 87 North, passed away on Friday, December 15th, 2017 at her home.

She was born in Alamance County to the late Lee Long Kernodle and the late Lillian Somers Kernodle and was married for 58 years to Larry Linwood Anderson who passed away in 2010.

Hazel retired from the Alamance County School System having served as Secretary at A-O Elementary, Elon Middle, and Western Middle Schools. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women. A lover of music she was a member of the Adult Choir, and as a former member of Bethlehem Christian Church she played the organ and piano.

Mrs. Anderson is survived by her daughters, Vickie Anderson Bradley and husband, Tim, of Mebane, Jamie Anderson Greenway and fiancé, Gene Debruler, of Elon; her son, Tony Anderson and wife, Sherrie, of Elon; six grandchildren, Jennifer Livers and husband, Ryan, Allison Thomas and husband, Jeremy, Caroline Cornett and husband, Christopher, Jessica Bradley, Cole Anderson, and Pearl Mansfield and husband, Scotty; eight great-grandchildren, Mary Bradley, Lillian Livers, Adeline Thomas, Chris, Shane, James, and Grace Cornett, and Ryder Mansfield; and a sister, Linda Kernodle Hughes of Cornelius.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a brother, J. Sammy Kernodle.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Fairview United Methodist Church by Dr. S. Mark Clark with interment to follow in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Monday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.

The family would like to acknowledge our appreciation to Mother’s wonderful caregivers, Anita Bardowell, Pauline Williamson, Joyce King, and her special friend Kathleen Martin.
