Shirley Mae Somers, 82, of Spotsylvania passed away peacefully at her home on November 26, 2021. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley was an amazing mom, nana, grandma, sister, aunt and friend.
She had the warmest smile and kindest heart. She made everyone feel incredibly loved and always remembered to tell you she loved you. Her presence will be so incredibly missed.
She was a hard-working woman, she had worked at Ecno Lodge for 21 years and retired from there at age of 72. Widowed at 38, she raised her seven children alone.
She had the best desserts and was already to share her recipes. She loved NASCAR especially when Dale Ernhart was racing. She would stand at the TV and cheer him on. She loved her games shows, watching Chuck Norris and NCIS over and over.
She loved talking on the phone with her son and daughters every day.
She loved her lottery tickets and won more times than losing.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Donna Lancaster (Steve), Juanita Phillips (Keith), Jeannie Carlson (Kevin), Teresa Shields (Robbie), and Lisa Berry Somers (Ronnie) of Richmond VA. Her son Linwood Somers Jr (Laurie) - Tennessee. Her best friend and sister Brenda Horner of NC, Carolyn Webb of NC and her brother Marvin Riley of NC. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lindwood Robert Somers Sr , her daughter Karen Franklin, her grandson Donald Somers, her mother & father, William & Margaret Riley, her sister Margaret Riley and her brothers William & James Riley. 470, Shirley Mae Riley Somers-Obituary
