Obituary Online notes for “Pat” Pasquale Edward COPPOLO
WEST SUFFIELD, CT - Pasquale Edward "Pat" Coppolo, 86 of West Suffield, husband of the late Mary (Lenilko) Coppolo, died peacefully on Monday, February 18, 2013, in Hampden, MA, surrounded by his family.
He was born on April 27, 1926, in Waterbury, CT, son of the late George E. and Adele (Mazeikas) Coppolo.
Pat was a graduate of Levenworth High School in Waterbury. He went on to serve our country during WWII with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served with the 15th Air Force, 456th Bomb Group H, 747th Bomb SQD, under Col. Steeds Flying Colts in Stornara, Italy. Pat was a nose gunner on the B-24 Liberator Bomber.
Upon returning from service he was married to Mary Lenilko on August 5, 1955 and together they settled in Suffield.
He worked as a self-employed Insurance Adjustor for Clark C. Collins & Co. Pat was a member of the VFW, DAV, American Legion, Springfield Kennel Club and was past treasurer of the West Suffield Men's Club. A kind, caring, and devoted father, grandfather and friend he will be greatly missed.
He leaves his children, Tanya Boushee and her husband Kevin of East Granby, CT, Patricia Coppolo of Suffield, CT, Christopher Coppolo and his wife Nancy of West Suffield, CT, Melissa Goossens and her husband Mark of Hampden, MA, Matthew Coppolo of East Granby, CT, Alan Coppolo and his wife Dreana of East Longmeadow, MA, and Timothy Coppolo and his wife Marilyn of Amherst, MA; his sister, Jane Everett of Oakville, CT, David's companion and family friend, Betty; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son, David Coppolo and sister, Dolores Jurgaitis.
His family will receive friends on Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m., and again on Friday morning February 22, 2013, from 9 to 10 a.m., at the Nicholson & Carmon Funeral Home 443 East St. North (Rt. 159) Suffield. A funeral service will follow on Friday morning at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.
Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Agawam, MA.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veteran's Memorial Program P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250-030.
