Obituary Online notes for “Robert” John William LIPKA
Age 83, passed away October 28, 2021. He was born August 22, 1938, in Winburne, PA, to Alfred and Clara Lipka. John served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He retired as superintendent of the City of Lansing Cemeteries, Parks and Recreation Division.
Surviving are: his wife of 56 years, Susan Kay Lipka; children; 13 grandchldren; 18 great-grandchildren; and brother.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Harold Lipka and sister, Nancy Modis.
John was a man of strong Christian faith serving the Lord as a former Chaplain and Treasurer of the Gideon International Lansing Camp; Salvation Army Young People Sergeant Major; Congregational Song Leader and Adult Sunday School Teacher at Central Free Methodist Church. John was an avid gospel music lover. He played instrumentals on Barnsborough Church Radio with his brother Jim as a youth and was a charter member for the Pennsylvania Southern Gospel Music Association. John enjoyed travel and camping with his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his many great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2021, at South Church of the Nazarene, 401 W. Holmes Rd., Lansing, with interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The U.S. Marines will provide military honors. His family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday, and also one hour prior to the funeral on Monday at the church.
