Former Middletown resident Earnest C. Whitesell, 74, of Cincinnati, died Tuesday at University Hospital, Cincinnati, after a lengthy illness.

The Carlisle native lived most of his life in Middletown. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter, Marcia Bailey of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sons, Marc of Middletown and Randy of Orlando, Fla.; a stepson, Michael Krauss of San Francisco; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Pauline Whitesell, Verna Jackson and Emma Haddix; and two brothers, Wayne and Corliss.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Charles Miller Funeral Home, Cincinnati. Private burial will be at Germantown Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn., 38105.
