Obituary Online notes for Vance Merriman ISLEY Sr.
Mr. Vance M. Isley, Sr., 95, of Burlington, passed away at the AuthoraCare Hospice Home in Burlington on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.
A native of Alamance County, he was husband of Georgie Brown Isley, who survives, and son of the late Elbert M. Isley and Nellie D. Albright Isley.
Mr. Isley was a retired truck driver for Carolina Tank Lines, a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, and a US Marine Corps Veteran of WW II.
Surviving, other than his wife of the home, are two daughters, Brenda Isley Holt (Blake) of Burlington and Janet Westmoreland (Lee) of Graham; a son, Vance M. Isley, Jr. of Liberty; five grandchildren, Ethan and Carina Holt, Josh and Susan Holt, Courtney Westmoreland, Janna Shoffner and Lauren Isley; eight great-grandchildren, Nash, Kyler, Faith, Abigail, Levi, Eve, Declan, and Savannah; and a brother, James Isley.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Judy Moize, Marie Everette, Annie D. Brown and Ruby Lee Greeson; and five brothers, Martin Isley, Joe Isley, Tommy Isley, Ernest Isley and Curtis Isley.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 19 at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Thurman Horney officiating. The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington from 4-6 PM, Friday evening and other times at the residence of a daughter, Brenda Holt.
