Peggy Simpson Hurst, 94, of Burlington passed away at her residence on Sunday, March 19, 2023.
A native of Shelby, NC, she was the wife of the late Don Hurst, Sr. and the daughter of Carl Simpson and Maggie Allen Simpson, both deceased.
She retired from Tower Hosiery and Isley Knitting Mills. In her younger years, she worked at the State Theater, Paramount Theater, Carolina Theater, and the Town Theater. She was a member of the VFW Post 10607. Peggy loved her cat, Oreo, the beach, lighthouses and the Tar Heels. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Don Hurst, Jr. of Burlington, Jim Hurst and wife Marie of Elon, and Fred Hurst and wife Gail of Monks Corner, SC; sister, Shirley Simpson; her grandchildren, Jamie Hurst and wife Heather, Suzanne Clayton and husband Tommy, Ashley Bukay, Kristi Owens, Nolan Hurst, Laura Black, Lindsey Black, and Butler Graham; and her great grandchildren, Nevaeh, James Michael, Christian, Morgan, Evan, Kaleigh, Ella, Alexander, and Thomas.
She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Hurst; sister, Joyce Flor; brother, Jimmy Smith; and her maternal grandparents, Charlie and Cora Allen.
A graveside service will be conducted at Alamance Memorial Park on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
The family will receive friends at Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington from 12:00 noon until 1:30 p.m. prior to the graveside service on Friday. 261, Peggy Simpson Hurst
