Obituary Online notes for “Blackie” Waddell BOYKIN
Waddell "Blackie" Boykin, 87, of Wesley Court Assisted Living in Boiling Springs, SC, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2013, at the Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg. Born in Bishopville, SC on October 31, 1925, he was the son of the late Maybelle (Mathis) and Willie Daniel Boykin.

He was the husband of Ruth (Waldrop) Boykin and was first married to the late Edith George Boykin for 46 years. Mr. Boykin retired from Coca-Cola and was Owner/Operator of Blackie's Garage and was a member of Fairforest Church of God. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and retired from the U.S. Navy Reserve.

Mr Boykin is survived by a daughter, Jan Turner and husband Daniel of Boiling Springs; a son,Jerry Alan Boykin, and wife Carol of Greer; a step-daughter, Karen Edwards and her husband Jackie; a step-son, Johnny Zampell of Spartanburg; a sister, Ruby Morris, of Sumter, SC, 5 grandchildren, Alan Boykin, Addie Smart, Jesse Turner, Lauren Turner, Lindsey Turner, 3 great grandchildren, Madison Boykin, Bryson Boykin and Caitlin Smart. He was predeceased by a son Keith George Boykin.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Seawright Funeral Home from 1-2 PM. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2PM in the Seawright Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Petty officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Inman, SC with military honors.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Boiling Springs First Baptist Church "Rising Together", 3600 Boiling Springs Highway, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. The family is at their respective homes.
