POFF, Ethel Saunders, 69, of Salem, passed away Monday, September 4, 2000 in a local hospital. Born September 4, 1931 in Dublin, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Ida Saunders. Surviving are her husband, Joseph Andrew Poff; children, Linda S. Simmons and husband, Joseph, Roanoke, Michael A. Poff, Salem, Jody Cronk and husband, Paul, Anthony (Tony) E. Poff, Jack L. Poff, Melanie M. Fisher and husband, Chad, all of Roanoke, Kenneth (Kenny) D. Poff and Alice Huff, Moneta; grandchildren, Dennis Ray Cronk, Patrick (Andy) Simmons, Theresa Gayle Simmons, Daniel David Cronk, Aaron Mackenzie Ingraham and Joseph Austin Fisher; sisters, Evelyn Hillman, Richmond, Va., Gladys Jenkins, New Castle, Delaware, Peggy Langston, Virginia Beach, Va.; brothers, Jerry Saunders, Roanoke, Randolph Saunders, Courtland, Va. and Edgar Saunders of Virginia Beach, Va.; a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2000 at Simpson-Tharp Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, by the Rev. Frank W. Feather and Assistant Pastor, Phil Gallagher. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Simpson-Tharp Funeral Home.
