Betty Pender Shaw, 78, of 1116 S. Green River Road, Gaffney, S.C. went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at her residence.
Born in Clifton, S.C. she was the wife of Duane Shaw and daughter of the late Clarence Pender and Margaret Willis Pender.
She was a graduate of Gaffney High School, retired from Belk in Greenville, S.C. worked in several other retail stores over the years, and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She loved traveling, gardening and her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Steve Parris of Spartanburg, S.C. David Parris of Gaffney, and Michael Shaw and wife, Mandy, of Inman, S.C.; two daughters, Shari Davis and husband, Steve, of Hartsville, S.C. and Tisha Poteat and husband, Michael of Indian Land, S.C.; twelve grandchildren, Kristy Knox and husband, Michael, Boss Ramsey and wife, Courtney, Samantha Brady, Bradley Parris, Marc Parris, Beth Owens and husband, Robbie, E. Avery Bland, Colt Thompson, Chrissy Thompson, Victoria Shaw, Duncan Shaw and Alexa Shaw; five great-grandchildren, Martin, Paisley, Kayla, Riley and Lilly.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, John Pender.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00 PM in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Terry Duvall officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to: Macedonia Baptist Church, “Building Fund”, 216 Macedonia Road, Gaffney, S.C. 29341.
The family will be at the residence, 1116 S. Green River Road, Gaffney.
