Henry Otis Smith, 82, of Burlington passed away at his residence on Wednesday, November 14, 2018.
Mr. Smith was born in Alamance County on September 5, 1936. He was the husband of 58 years to Elizabeth Ann Brooks Smith, who survives and the son of Edgar K. and Mary Murray Smith, both deceased. He was a barber in Burlington for 52 years and former owner of Downtown Barber Shop on Davis Street.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors included his sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Joanna Smith, Douglas and Pam Smith and Philip and René Smith; grandchildren, Brandon (April) Smith, Cory (Dawnn) Smith, Kirsten (Aaron) Whitley and Michael Smith; nine great-grandchildren; and also nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Everett, Marion, Albert and Aaron Smith; sister, Uyvonne S. Andrews; and granddaughter, Kendra.
The funeral service was conducted at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 3572 West Greensboro-Chapel Hill Road, Liberty, NC on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. by Rev. Andy Clapp and Rev. Nathan Hooks. The family received friends and neighbors from 1:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial followed in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
