Obituary Online notes for Walter Julius APPLE
Walter Julius Apple, 94, of Gibsonville, passed quietly into the arms of his Savior on Christmas Day, 2022.
"WJ", as everyone knew him, was a lover of Christ, his wife, Pat (his sweetheart for 72 years; 67 of those they were married and still enjoying Saturday night dates). He loved his family, his church, his neighbors, and working hard either on the farm with his tobacco or cows or in his barber shop. He also had such fond memories of his service in the US Army and time in Germany during the Korean conflict. He wore his veteran's cap with pride. Before training to be a barber, he worked at Southern Webbing Mill. Once qualified, he opened his own barber shop next to their home and enjoyed all his customers and sharing the love of Christ with them for 34 years.
WJ is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Woodard Apple, of the home. His daughter, Sharan and her husband, Bryant Crane of George, South Africa; their three sons and families: Joshua & Brittany, Will and Ava; Daniel and Kelsi, Emma, Charlie, and Henry, all of George, South Africa; Zach & Nicole, Tyler, Amelia and Charlotte of Florence, SC. Also surviving, his dear brother Paul and his wife, Almeta, and two sisters, Margaret Smith, and Mable Lanning.
And special mention of Steve Apple, Cheryl Royal and Debi Pope -"adopted" family that lovingly cared for them.
He was so grateful for their love and help which allowed them to live his last days on the farm. Also grateful for the loving care from Ashton Place, AuthoraCare of Burlington, and Hospice Home in Burlington.
A 2:00 p.m. Celebration of Life will be held at Hope River Church on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. A time of refreshments will be shared afterwards.
