ELON COLLEGE — Mr. Robert Lee Younger Sr., 87, of 3246 Osceola Road, died Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after several years of failing health and a sudden illness. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of the late Mrs. Alma Core Chambers Younger, and the son of Mr. Charlie Lee Younger and Mrs. Mamie Tickle Younger, both deceased. He was the owner and operator of Lee’s Distributing Co. and was a member of Altamahaw Baptist Church. He was a member of the Altamahaw Baptist Men’s Bible Class with 48 years perfect attendance. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jerry Lee (Patricia) Apple of Elon College; a son, Mr. Robert Lee “Bobby” Younger Jr. of Elon College; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ms. Marlyn Y. Riggins and Ms. Christine Y. Sharpe; four brothers, Mr. Jack Younger, Mr. John Younger, Mr. C.L. Younger Jr., and Mr. Herman Younger. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Altamahaw Baptist Church by the Rev. Walter Jones, pastor, and the Rev. Emmitt Dupree, pastor of Holly Hill Baptist Church. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park. The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the home.
