    GIBSONVILLE — Jerry Lee Apple, 69, of 330 Faith Drive, Gibsonville, passed away Monday, July 21, 2008 after several years of failing health. He was married to Patricia "Pat" Ann Younger Apple for 49 years. He was born July 2, 1939, in Guilford County, to the late Walter Ernest and Mildred Mayberry Apple. Jerry was employed by Lee’s Distributing for 30 years before starting his own company, Southern Laser Recycling. He was a member of Holly Hill Baptist Church. Jerry always had a smile on his face and a kind word for you. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend, who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
    Survivors include his wife, Pat of the home; a daughter, Mechelle Apple Jones and her husband, Ritchie, of Burlington; a son, Dwayne L. Apple and his wife, Janice, of Rochester, N.Y.; grandchildren, Mitchell L. Apple, Patricia Ann Apple, Matthew L. Apple, Blake Thomas Jones, Taylor Nichole Jones, Alexander L. Jones; a sister, Linda Jones and her husband, Harry, of Jamestown.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Peggy McKinney; and a brother, Leonard "Nig" Apple.
    The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jonathan Harrison and the Rev. Norman Fargis. Entombment will follow in the Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum.
    The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., and at other times at the residence.
    Memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215 and The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, N.Y. 10018.
