Delois Lynn McKinney, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Wesley Long Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on June 23, 1942 in Rockingham County, to the late Thomas Lynn and Annie Pauline Walker Lynn.

Delois dedicated her career to the textile industry, where she worked tirelessly for thirty years at Cape Associates. Her unwavering commitment to her work mirrored the dedication she showed to her family. Delois was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend who created an environment full of warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.

In addition to her enduring passion for her work, Delois found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She relished reading, solving crossword puzzles, and spending time outdoors, where she took pride in planting flowers and carefully trimming her trees and shrubs. Cooking for her family brought her great happiness, as did the countless moments spent with them, which she treasured deeply.

Delois’s greatest accomplishments were reflected in the beauty of her yard and the love surrounding her family.

She leaves behind her loving children, Tony McKinney and his wife Tina, Kenneth McKinney, Sandra McKinney, Janet McKinney, and Belinda Church and her husband Rex.

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Charles McKinney and his wife Cassie, Stephanie Marsh and her husband Doug, Cody Beasley, Brittany Beasley, Kellye Albright and her husband Roy, and Jordan Church.

Delois was also a proud great-grandmother to Bryson Marsh, Nicholas Marsh, Novalee Beasley, Hoyt Albright, and Everleigh Church; and an aunt to two nieces.

In her journey of life, Delois faced the loss of many cherished family members, including her parents, her husband of forty-two years, Joseph McKinney who passed away in 2005 and several siblings, Ollie "Nookie" Satterfield, Pete Lynn, Bryant Lynn, Louise Ashley, and Thomas "Tom Bo" Lynn.

The funeral service to celebrate the life of Delois will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Brian Hill and Pastor Bruce Readling, with the burial to follow at Camp Springs Community Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:30am to 12:45am prior to the service Wednesday and other times at the residence.
Delois will be forever remembered for her nurturing heart and her unwavering dedication to her family, which remains a testament to her beautiful spirit.
