Mrs. Frances Ross Oakley
BURLINGTON — Mrs. Frances Ross Oakley, 67, of 1329 Dogwood St., died 9:27 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2000, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after five months failing health and a two-day critical illness.
A native of Rockingham County, she was the wife of Mr. Hubert Oakley, who survives, and the daughter of Mr. Robert Irving Ross and Mrs. Connie McKinney Ross, both deceased. She worked at Carolina Biological Supply Co. She was a member of Shallow Ford United Church of Christ.
Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Susan Diane Pew of Vernon, N.J.; two sons, Mr. Michael Hubert “Mike” Oakley of Burlington and Mr. Charles Anthony “Chuck” Oakley of the home; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Bowes of Reidsville; two brothers, Mr. Bill Ross and Mr. Bob Ross, both of Reidsville; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Jim Ross; and a sister, Mrs. Betsy R. Gilliam.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Shallow Ford United Church of Christ by the Rev. Leslie Jolley, pastor. The body will be placed at the church a half-hour before the service. Burial will be in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 6 to 8 this evening and at other times at the home.
