J.V. Boyd Evans
ELON — J.V. Boyd Evans, 80, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2009 at the Hospice Home. Mr. Evans was born September 5, 1928 in Randolph County to the late Marcus W. and Flora C. Evans. J.V. worked for many years at Glen Raven Mills; attended Fairview United Methodist Church; was a member of the V.F.W; was part of the 822nd Tank Battalion; and later on in life, worked for Spartan Security.
Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Jones, of Elon; a son, Gene Evans and his wife, Jill, of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Marty Schoolfield, Misty S. Trent, Zoe Evans and Jory Evans; two greatgrandchildren, Alexis Trent and Hayley Trent; and two sisters, Cora Porter and Rebecca Lewis.
Mr. Evans was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2009, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jared Hanson. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home of his daughter, 2531 Ossipee-Front St., Elon.
