Jack B. Fortune, Jr.
SALISBURY - Jack Bernard Fortune, Jr., 66, of Salisbury, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at Brian Center of Statesville. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed cooking for his family and friends.
Born Jan. 10, 1944, in Hickory, he was the son of the late Elizabeth Neill Fortune and Jack Bernard Fortune, Sr. Mr. Fortune was a graduate of Hickory High School, Catawba Valley Community College and Pfeiffer University. He was employed by Food Lion and had worked at Cracker Barrel before becoming disabled.
Mr. Fortune was a member of Community Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Libby Beck Fortune, whom he married Sept. 21, 1968; son Jack Bernard Fortune, III of High Point; daughters Carol F. Morrison (Anthony) of Lincolnton, Cassidy Brown Fortune of Salisbury; sister Susan F. Crossley of Matthews; brother Neill Fortune (Glenda) of Charlotte; grandchildren Joey and Nikki Fortune of Salisbury, who were raised in the home; and grandchildren Amber, Josh and Jaden.
Visitation: 1:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16 at Lyerly Funeral Home; and at other times, the family will be at the residence.
Service: 3 p.m. Saturday in the James C. Lyerly Chapel, with the Rev. Keith Mason officiating. Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell.
