Obituary Online notes for Vertie Mae COBB
BURLINGTON – On June 27th, 2017 at the Hospice surrounded by her family Vertie Cobb Billings passed away after a seven year battle with cancer.

She will join her late husband of 72 years and 11 months, Clarence W. Billings who passed away March 24, 2017.

She was born July 30, 1924 in Caswell County but moved as a child to Alamance County with her parents Allie Cobb and Jennie Page Cobb who preceded her in death, along with her brother Willard Cobb.

Maw maw as her family called her leaves behind to cherish her memory three children; Patricia Councilman (Randy), Brenda Stutts (Lynn), Ricky Billings (Teresa); four grandchildren: Ritchie Councilman, Kelly Councilman, Juston Billings (Shannon), and Chad Billings (Brittany); two precious great-granddaughters: Kayli Ann and Brystol Grace Billings.

She also leaves a brother Elmo Cobb and sisters, Hazel Crouse and Faye Overman.

She was of the Primitive Baptist Faith. Maw maw was a feisty little woman with a never ending dedication to her family and friends. She always had time to listen to your troubles and would rejoice in your happiness or cry in your sorrows. She loved to work in her flowers and help Paw paw raise veggies to can and freeze. Maw maw would always tell us to be careful when we got ready to go. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 30th Lakeview Community Church by Rev. Gerald Sanders, Elder Ray King and Mr. Mike Sutton with the burial to follow in Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
