THOMASVILLE - Robert Lindley Greeson Sr. of Thomasville N.C., passed away at his home on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013.

He was born in Burlington, N.C., to Egbert and Edith Greeson on Aug. 30, 1925.

He is survived by his loving family: Marian Greeson, his wife of 63 years, and his four children: Joyce Shields (Stanley), Bob Greeson Jr., Sheron Bender (Jay), Martin Greeson (Heidi), and 12 grandchildren: Roger LaGuardia (Jaymi), Nick LaGuardia (Misty), Kelly LaGuardia Cox (Sean), Bob Greeson III (Amber), Bryan Bender (Jeanne), Rebecca Bender, Katja Greeson, Carlin Greeson, Mary Beth Orr, Isaac Orr, Gerri Wright and Beth Orman.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with pastor Michael E. Lamm officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to Campbell University in his honor.

Robert Greeson, Sr.

Robert Lindley Greeson, Sr., 88, a resident of Thomasville died Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at his residence.

He was born August 30, 1925 in Alamance County to Egbert and Edith Truitt Greeson.

Robert served in the Navy for three years during World War ll. He served in a training group in the Chesapeake Bay while on a converted battleship that had had a flat top attached for pilots to learn how to take off and land on carriers.

Robert graduated from Campbell College in 1949. He then attended Western Carolina College and graduated with a teaching degree. While in college he played both football and basketball.

After college he taught at Marshall High School, Marshall, NC and Altamahaw Ossipee School in Alamance County. He managed FCX stores in Sanford, NC and Carthage, NC. After moving to Thomasville, NC in 1964 he served as a probation Officer for Davidson County before taking the position of Personnel Manager at Thomas Company. He later worked for several years at Rex Plastics and Rex Rosenlew as a foreman. Mr. Greeson has been an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Thomasville since 1964. He has performed many duties, including: teaching Sunday school, serving as a Deacon and as a member of Session. He found great joy in singing bass in the church choir.

He is survived by three brothers: Egbert Greeson (Eileen), Ralph Greeson (Maybelle) and Richard Greeson(Donna).

He is also survived by his wife of 63 years, Marian Ray Greeson. They have four children: Joyce Shields(Stanley), Bob Greeson Jr., Sheron Bender(Jay), and Martin Greeson (Heidi). In addition there are 12 grandchildren; Roger LaGuardia (Jaymi), Nick LaGuardia (Misty), Kelly LaGuardia Cox (Sean), Bob Greeson III (Amber), Bryan Bender (Jeanne), Rebecca Bender, Katja Greeson, Carlin Greeson, Mary Beth Orr, Isaac Orr, Gerri Wright and Beth Orman.

Robert is remembered lovingly by family and friends for his many tall tales and the joy he had when he was "pulling your leg"! He was a much loved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, December 1, 2013 at 3 P.M. at The First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Michael E. Lamm officiating.
