Obituary Online notes for Agnes VEST
Agnes Dunn

Athens, WV- Agnes Vest Dunn, 87, of Athens, WV and formerly of Old Bramwell Road, Bluefield, died Tuesday December 1, 2009 at a Princeton hospital.

Born July 13, 1922 in Smokeless, WV, she was a daughter of the late Preston L. Vest and Maggie Thompson Vest.

Mrs. Dunn was currently a member of Concord United Methodist Church in Athens and had been a long-time member of Bland Street United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and served on various committees.

She had worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Robert L. Shumate and also worked in her family's business, Power Mower Service.

Mrs. Dunn was also passionate about volunteering, dedicating her time to the American Red Cross, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and St. Luke's Hospital.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl L. Dunn Sr., two brothers, Roy Vest and Paul Vest, and three sisters, Nancy Jones, Madge McDonald and Helen Williams.

Survivors include one son, Carl Leslie Dunn, Jr. and his wife Bea of Bluefield, VA; one daughter Lisa Godwin and her husband Gregory of Athens, WV; one stepdaughter, Carol McIntyre of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren, Lauren Ann Godwin and Jordan Arthur Godwin; two step grandchildren, Jeffrey McIntyre and Julie McIntyre; and the loving staff of The Rocking Chair.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday December 5, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Scott Mayberry officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour. Burial will at Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley where family and friends of the family will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions, if desired, be made to the Bluefield Union Mission, 2203 Bluefield Avenue, Bluefield, WV 24701.
