Obituary Online notes for James Harvey WHITTAKER
James Harvey "Buddy, Pete" Whittaker, 84, of Pikeview Drive, Princeton, died peacefully Thursday evening, November 22, 2007 at Princeton Community Hospital with his loving family surrounding him.

Born February 24, 1923, at Hatcher, he was the son of the late James Walter Whittaker and Eula Cahill Whittaker.

Mr. Whittaker was a graduate of Oakvale High School, was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army. He was with the Tank Destroyer Battalion 692. Having worked steel fabrication and construction for many years, he had retired from the Celanese Corporation, Narrows Virginia with 21 years of service as a tin smith.

Mr. Whittaker was a member of Stinson United Methodist Church on the Oakvale Road, Princeton. He was a member of the Concord Masonic Lodge No. 48 of Athens. Mr. Whittaker was a devoted family man, loved serving His Lord & Savior and truly looked forward each spring to planting and raising his garden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Perry C. Whittaker.

Survivors: his loving and caring wife of 54 years, Anna Donovan Whittaker; children, Marcheta Gallup & husband Jeff of Concord N.C., Jill Woods & husband Danny and Jeff Whittaker & wife Anne, all of Princeton, Carol Ould & husband Rick of Glen Lyn Va.; his grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Garret Whittaker, Tucker Whittaker, Eve Sweeney & husband D-No, Lauren Ould, Ande Hubbard & husband Dan, Elissa Gallup, Kiera Gallup, Mac Whittaker & wife Angie; two great grandchildren, his siblings, Virginia Queen, Jack Whittaker, Nancy Smith & husband Al, and Mildred Quesenberry all of Princeton, Bernadine Brown & husband Tom of Pontiac, Mich.; numerous nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate a life well lived, will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 26, 2007 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Jimmie Jones and Sharon Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Queen/Whittaker Family Cemetery on the Halls Ridge Road, near Princeton.

Friends may visit with the family today from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
