Obituary Online notes for Bernard Moore JONES
REIDSVILLE BERNARD MOORE JONES, 94, OF Reidsville, NC, passed away peacefully Monday December 5, 2016 at Annie Penn Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2016 at Woodmont United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Reidlawn Cemetery.
A native of Rockingham County, he was a son of the late Horace G. and Myrtle Moore Jones and had lived in Reidsville his entire life.
He was a graduate of Reidsville High School, where he served as president of the student body.
The retired owner/operator of Jones Heating and Air, he was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Bernard was a charter member of Woodmont United Methodist Church, where he served as chairman of the Administrative Board, trustee, Usher Board, and jack of all trades for the church.
A member of the Reidsville Lion's Club for 67 years, he was a past president and a Melvin Jones Fellow. He had perfect attendance for every year he was a member of the Lions Club and served as a past deputy district governor.
Jones was a member of the Reidsville School Board for 17 years, from 1968 to 1985, including the period when the schools were integrated.
Bernard was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years: Louise Stanfield Jones, a granddaughter: Lindsay K. Apple and five brothers: Howard Jones, Gordon Jones, Ernest Jones, Phillip Jones, and R.O. "Jack" Jones, Sr.

The family will see friends at Woodmont United Methodist Church, 6 till 8 p.m.
