Rupert Otis "Ruchie" Jones Jr., 70, of 180 Joneslan Trail, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at his home.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Sept. 23, 2009, at Mizpah United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Tom Goode, the Rev. Roy Ward and David Langston officiating.

A lifelong resident of Rockingham County, he was a son of Rupert O. Jones Sr. and the late Frances Wagoner Jones. Ruchie was an elected official with the Rockingham Co. Soil and Water Conservation Service and retired after 35 years of service. He was a farmer and a partner in Jones Produce, a charter member and former chairman of the Board of Directors of the Monroeton Vol. Fire Dept., and had served on the cemetery committee and on many boards and committees at Mizpah United Meth. Church. Ruchie was selected in 1970 as a Rockingham Co. Outstanding Young Farmer, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the National Guard.

Surviving is his wife, Jann Beville Jones of the home; son, Rupert Daniel Jones, and wife, Angie Wall Jones, of Reidsville; daughters, Anna Carol Jones of Reidsville and Catherine Jones Page and husband, Matt, of Ruffin; father, Rupert O. "Jack" Jones Sr. of Reidsville; brother, Danny Jones, and wife, Beverly, of Reidsville; sisters, Joanne J. Stanley and husband, Bobby, of Greensboro and Nancy J. Langston and husband, Mason, of Reidsville; grandchildren, Jacob Jones, Katie Beth Benfield, Moriah Frances Jones, Sadie Grace Page and Sasha Moore; niece and nephews, Cynthia L. Copes, David Langston, Douglas Langston and Robert Stanley; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friends, Gina Burroughs and Carla Linville.
