Obituary Online notes for “Jack” Rupert Otis JONES
REIDSVILLE - Rupert Otis "Jack" Jones, 96, of 182 Joneslan Trail died Tuesday (March 29, 2011) at Wesley Long Community Hospital.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday (April 1, 2011) at Mizpah United Methodist Church and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Rockingham Co., he was a son of the late Horace G. and Myrtle Moore Jones and had lived all of his life in the Monroeton Community.
He was a life-long farmer and retired from Macfield Jack graduated from Reidsville High School where he played on the 1931 State Championship Football Team. He not only played on the team, he also drove the bus to Chapel Hill for the championship game. He was a life-long member of Mizpah United Methodist Church where he served on numerous boards and committees. Jack and his sons operated Jones Produce for many years and he was a fixture at the Reidsville Farmer's Market for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Frances Wagoner Jones, who he married on Dec. 21, 1935, a Son: Rupert O. "Ruchie" Jones Jr., Brothers: Gordon, Ernest, Howard, & Pete Jones, and by Great Grandchildren: Joshua Langston, Caleigh Stanley, & Ashlyn Stanley.
Surviving is his son, F. Daniel "Danny" Jones (Beverly) of Reidsville.
Daughters: Joanne J. Stanley (Bobby) of Greensboro, & Nancy J. Langston (Mason) of Reidsville.
Brothers: Bernard M. Jones of Reidsville, & James L. "Jamie" Jones (Sarah) of Reidsville.
Daughter-in-law, Jann B. Jones of Reidsville. Grandchildren: Cynthia L. Copes (Jeff), Robert Stanley (Natalie), David Langston (Debbie), Douglas Langston (Ann), Anna Jones, Daniel Jones (Angie), & Catherine J. Page (Matt) and 15 Great Grandchildren.
The family will see friends from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday (March 31, 2011) at Citty Funeral Home and at other times, they will be at the home of his Daughter-in-law: Jann B, Jones 180 Joneslan Trail Reidsville, NC 27320.
