Byron was the third of four children born to Edward Alphonso and Espie Florine (Troxler) Kivett.

He married Lynda Wyrick and they had one daughter: Terri Lynn.

Kivett, associated with Beaman Corp., was a graduate of Alamance High School and had served in the U. S. Air Force.

He was a member of Alamance Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, the former Linda Wyrick; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Kivett of Greensboro; a sister, Mrs. June Apple of Greensboro; two brothers, Larry Kivett of Greensboro and Blake Kivett of Ocala, Fla.; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Porter Troxler of Alamance community.

Funeral was to be held at 4 p.m. today at Alamance Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Eugene J. Bolte and Rev. Thomas Madren, pastor of Hines Chapel United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was to be in the church cemetery.
