David Lynn Saunders, 63, of Roanoke, died on Saturday, January 16, 2021, after many months of declining health.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry T. Saunders and Joyce Crawford Saunders.
David attended William Fleming High School where he was active in drama and golf. He went on to graduate from Virginia Western Community College where he studied business. Because of his experience in the school drama program, David became a real movie buff, he often went to the local theaters every week. David enjoyed following sports, he was an avid fan of football, auto racing and most other sports. As his ability to play golf declined, he turned his interest to science. David was also a lover of music and traveled around the region seeing his favorite artists perform.
He is survived by his uncles, Bill Saunders and Kenny Saunders (Rosanne); his aunt, Anita Hurley; his special friend, Jeff Smith and his mother, Cleo Ayers; and many cousins and Facebook friends.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Pastor Bruce Gregory officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Meals On Wheels program at the LOA (Local Office of Aging) of the Roanoke Valley, 706 Campbell Ave. SW, Roanoke, VA 24016. 470, David Lynn Saunders
