Mr. Cecil Grant Somers, 55, of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, at Wake Forest University Medical Center.

He was born May 5, 1951, in Rockingham County to Barbara Brande and William Grant Somers.

Mr. Somers was a member of Mount Tabor United Methodist Church and was employed with Wachovia Bank for over 26 years.

Surviving are his wife, Pam Murray Somers; three sons, David Somers (wife Brooke) of Austin, Texas; Adam Somers of Hartsdale, N.Y.; and Steven Somers of Raleigh; his mother, Barbara Brande Somers, of Gibsonville; siblings Terry Somers of Sneads Ferry, Karol Gray (husband Don) of Pilot Mountain, Dale Somers of Gibsonville and Cheryl Pettigrew (husband David) of Gibsonville; mother-in-law Eloise Murray of Reidsville; and a brother-in-law, Greg Murray, (wife Debbie) of Durham.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Dr. Earl Wilson Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 25, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Piedmont Triad Chapter, 1401-B Old Mill Circle, Second Floor, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
