Obituary Online notes for Pearl Marie SOMERS
Pearl Somers Atwater, 92, formerly of Pennrose Dr. died Tuesday (Aug. 21, 2012) at the Penn Nursing Center.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 11:00AM Thursday (Aug. 23, 2012) in Greenview Cemetery with Dr. Bill Duke and Rev. Dave Huggins officiating.

A native of Rockingham Co., she was a daughter of the late Ira Lawrence and Lillie Mae Dawson Somers and she had lived in Reidsville most of her life.

Pearl was a member of the First Baptist Church and a home maker.

She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband: Herman Atwater; her two sons: Wayne Atwater, & Thomas "Tommy" Atwater; her sisters: Olivia Elliott, & Shirley Hunt; a brother: Gordon Somers; and a sister-in-law: Tommie Jane Somers.

Surviving is her brother: Ira Lee Somers of Reidsville; sister-in-law: Helen Somers of Reidsville; her very special friend and caregiver: Kay Simpson of Reidsville; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no formal visitation. Citty Funeral Home is assisting the Atwater family.

The family would like to thank the Penn Nursing Center for the care that she received and they would like to thank the ladies who sat with her: Wanda Smith, Joann Bray, Mae Motley, Mildred Gwynn, & Melissa Pulliam.
